Annual Blackjack Ball

The Annual Blackjack Ball is the premier capstone event of the 160th Infantry Blackjack Association. Gathering current and former members of the 1-160th Infantry Regiment ("Los Angeles’ Own"), their families, and distinguished guests, this formal military mess is a time-honored tradition dedicated to celebrating the achievements and enduring legacy of our historic regiment.

The Significance of the Gathering More than just a formal dinner, the Blackjack Ball serves a vital purpose in preserving the lifeblood of the 160th Infantry:

  • Honoring Our Lineage: We proudly trace our roots back to the 7th California Infantry of the Spanish-American War, through the mobilization camps of World War II, and into the Global War on Terror. The Ball is a living tribute to the Soldiers who fought under our colors and earned the regiment's Presidential Unit Citations and Medals of Honor.

  • Forging Unbreakable Bonds: Camaraderie is the foundation of any great military unit. The Ball provides a rare and invaluable opportunity for multi-generational "Blackjacks"—from veterans who served decades ago to currently serving Soldiers—to share stories, impart wisdom, and strengthen the brotherhood that defines us.

  • Supporting the Mission: As a 501(c)(3) organization, the momentum and support generated from this event directly fund the Association’s ongoing mission to preserve our regimental history and provide tangible, real-world support to current Soldiers and their families.

A Night to Remember Each year, the Ball is hosted at a location of historic or cultural significance—from the heart of Los Angeles near the Spanish-American War Monument at Pershing Square, to the storied hangars of the March Field Air Museum. Attendees partake in the deep-rooted traditions of a military mess, including ceremonial toasts, the honoring of our fallen comrades, addresses from distinguished military leaders, and an unforgettable evening of fellowship.
